  5. While we are on the topic of food, Tiong Bahru Pau, Hiang Kee roasted meats, even the Penang food place, Gourmet Paradise, and all the other small coffee shops.
  6. One short train ride to Novena to chill during weekends. Sometimes City Square Mall too.
  7. Days jogging at 11pm "training" for my measly 5km run.

MC cycle

posted : Wednesday, October 21, 2015
Day 0 - Fell sick.

Day 1 - condition not the worst. Wanted to take MC, but decided to try to go to work and if it worsens, go home and take MC the next day. Ends up worsening at work and sniffing down the entire office, but didn't go home and instead landed unmissable meetings and what not on Day 2.

Day 2 - dragged sorry ass to work and thinking to cabut as early as possible and take MC on day 3. Ended up pitifully working the entire day with O/T some more and worse of all, actually FELT BETTER at the end of the day.

Day 3 - dilemma on whether to take MC or not, decided to give body a rest, but trip to Doctor look suspiciously like a fake MC case. Urgh.

Day 4 - fresh and cheery as usual.

Happens every. single. time.

Tags revisited

posted : Friday, April 18, 2014
Going through old blog posts. There was a time when fb was a relatively new thing and blogs were the "in" thing, and tags were really popular. Basically there are a series of questions, when a person is tagged he/she has to answer them (probably in a blog post or FB note). There was one which I thought was fun and had hilarious results..and shall redo them haha.

Original post here btw.

The Rules:
  1. Put your music player on shuffle.
  2. Press forward for each question.
  3. Use the song title as the answer to the question even if it doesn't make sense.
  4. With the answers, give your own comments on how they relate to the questions.

  1. How are you feeling today?
How Do I Live (Trisha Yearwood cover). Yes I was feeling really emo about skin and wondering how much longer can I take this.

  2. Will you get far in life?
大男人 小女孩 by 林俊杰. Didn't make much sense now so move on...

  3. What's your best friend's theme song?
Go Your Own Way (Glee cover). Complete opposite of what a "best friend's theme song" should be.

  4. What is the story of your life?
黄昏 (张栋梁 cover). Emo song about break ups fml.

  5. What was high school like?
会读书 by 林俊杰. I swear I didn't cheat here! God I miss those days.

  6. How can you get ahead with life?
Don't Let Me Go by Westlife. Nope move on.

  7. What’s the best thing about your friends?
爱情不能做比较 (Baby cover). Um, shall twist it a bit and interpret it as BGR cannot be compared at the same level as friendships!

  8. Describe your grandparents.
那些女孩教我的事 by 品冠. No leh, don't think I learnt much from them if i haven't even seen them much.

  9. How's your life going?
影舞者 by 蔡依林. Also out of topic.

  10. What will be played at my funeral?
Sing Along Song by 方大同. I guess it's a nice song though not fitting..."Don't dream it's over" would be more fitting though.

  11. Will you have a happy life?
Stick to the Status Quo from High School Musical. Oh hell no if I stick to the status quo with the p problem I will NEVER have a happy life.

  12. What do your friends really think of you?
那些年 by 胡夏. Um, they miss the times they spent with me last time?

  13. How can you make yourself happy?
    计时炸弹 by 潘嘉丽. Next....

  14. What should you do with your life?
    爱引力 by 蔡依林. Boring.

  15. Will you ever have children?
    没那么简单 by 黄小琥. Uh oh.

  16. What does your mom think of you?
    Anticipating by Britney Spears. Huh.

  17. What is your deep, dark secret?
We Could Be In Love by Lea Salonga and Brad Kane. Hmm....probably.

  18. What is your enemy's theme song?
    为我好 by 梁静茹. Confusing, no?

  19. Whats your personality like?
    海盗 by 蔡依林. Ahoy!

  20. What will be played at your wedding?
Marry The Night (Glee cover). Funny how it somehow has the word "marry" in it.
I like how some of the answers are either accurate or at least answers the question. Hahaha.

Ending soon!

posted : Tuesday, August 30, 2011
Obviously talking about the design project.

I count myself as very lucky to have a good team that works well. At least everybody showed up everyday with very minimal disappearances. Sort of survived the presentation that felt much more like a regular consultation session. Prof was like, the AutoCAD drawing is very well done (external consultant next to him nods in agreement). Discussed some more issues, then he randomly went "yeah, it's very nice". Wheeee happy :) Otherwise got scared by him towards the end coz I thought I just shot myself on my own foot when tackling one of his questions (by the way, we very nearly averted that disaster earlier, thankfully the shot that was being fired by __ missed).  Anyway, part II of the project started the next day and little problems here and there but we are nearing the end! Yeah!

Still abandoning the other two modules and FYP and very nearly died when one fine day I received email stating that there is a Research Meeting the next morning. Hastily looked up some stuff and went for the meeting, smoked a bit (and I think prof saw through it) and was let off in 5 minutes with an instruction "Continue reading up". Okayyyy. But after Design Proj please.

Plus there are already upcoming projects for the other two modules too. Although I dun think it will affect my free days much. I really should go and take up a part time job or something. Suggestions anybody? (I sound as if I have many readers lol) Wanted to dedicate time and really learn tennis/join Tennis Interest Group, and they had to schedule their beginner courses on Tuesdays and rallying sessions on Wednesday evenings. The only two days I have classes =.= Not meant to be?

*********************

Postings are getting more and more infrequent these days...funny coz I always thought of random lines I can post about things happening around me...but I never get a chance to actually write it down, and form a post. Stuff like post abt HK/Macau trip have been ignored (I think FB photos with captions are good enough alr hor), among other things.

YOG Training and Week 10

posted : Sunday, March 28, 2010
So I skipped make-up lecture today (oops) and went for YOG service excellence training....at first was contemplating registering then lari...then only to decide that I dun have guts for that, plus got some indemnity forms need to submit in the end so they would noe I cabut....but anyway the session was boring. I attended it only because I had to. Duno why but not extremely excited about YOG anymore but still kind of looking forward to work. Met someone who is doing the same work as me but in a different place...and there was this NUS econs year 3 girl who looked surprised enough when I told him I am a Malaysian. "You dont sound like one." Makes me wonder what she perceive a Malaysian to sound like.....

Anyway, I actually find the journey there more exciting then the training itself.

Firstly I got up late and was still in a blur mode. So i grab breakfast but forgot to fill water bottle. Forgot room key also. So while stoning at the bus stop and eating breakfast at the same time I watched as my bus drove pass me, before realizing what happened. Sat up straight for 5 minutes before stoning again and almost let a second bus drove pass me. =.=

Then there was madman #1 on the bus. He was talking to himself (quite loudly given that there werent a lot of people on the bus) and making big gestures with his hand. I checked, there definitely wasnt a handphone or a bluetooth headset. Anyway I couldnt make out what he is saying. Bus driver was observing him from his overhead mirror whenever he could and turned to look at him a few times, but didnt really do anything. I kind of freak out a bit because he followed me out of the bus (Actually it's coincidence coz he moved first, but I was nearer to the door) so I hurriedly walked to my next bus stop (changing bus).

"Relax" a bit coz I tot I got rid of him (in the first place he wasnt following me I guess...guess I made things dramatic for myself). Then saw a kid walking towards my bus stop from far...didnt pay too much attention until he pulled my sleeve and very "urgently" asked if I could spare $20 because he was late (for somewhere) and therefore need to cab. I said no without thinking (even if I reli had it). Then he was like "你找找看...(try to find le)"...and when i didnt attempt (of course I wouldnt, it would prove that I was lying) he was like "ha..die liao...i am late already...nobody help me..." and i ignored him. Eventually he tried a lady nearby...while I was still processing the whole incident my bus came and I got up..he actually got up the bus too. Which made me even sure he is a scammer (come to think of it it doesnt prove anything but still....). Anyway how could I get back my $$ if i borrow him wor...$20 le...can eat six $3 lunches liao. =.=

Fast forward to journey back to hall.
(edit: forgot to add sth..while having lunch at Clementi there was this group of Malay sec sch students...when i was walking towards them one of them said sth and the whole gang turned at look at me. Was like what is freaking wrong with me but I couldnt openly check. When i did I dun find anything wrong with me at all lor. Maybe its not me.....)

Took 183 from Clementi coz wanted to cut hair at $5 shop at Fong Seng area...drop off before Fong Seng and while walking to the barber shop the guy walking in front of me suddenly raised both his hands and waved wildly and go "Rahhhhhhh"...(maybe a bad description but the best I can do) and I was like "not again...." then he walked to one of the semi-d houses next to Fong Seng and grab the grills and looked in with his eyes wide open....I din dare to stop and look and hurriedly walk on. There you go...madman (?) #2....

Rarely have dramatic journeys (even if I made it sound dramatic) so good time to post abt it. Hehe.

************

More deadlines coming up next week...But I duno, at least there are less of them already. Like one project which is 60% done, an essay and a lab report which is 0% completed, an assignment or two, and a quiz. Hmm wait that actually sounds a lot. Sigh. One month to exams and I still have yet to touch LSM1301....

Sort of last forensic lecture last night...coz the next two lects will be moots exam..Volunteered by my partner to practise in class today and I tot I did quite ok although I kept laughing which should NOT be happening. Coz i happen to touch on a sensitive issue without realizing it and prof (who was playing the role of the 19-year old witness I am supposed to be cross-examining) reacted in 14-year old manner. And the class was laughing too so I couldnt help it. Oh well. My practical group did okay for the practical exam...3rd out of the 7 groups...most marks lost in the scene documentation part (which is the practical part coz we freaking forgot abt face masks). But yea I guess this marks the end of my Friday night classes...no more such classes as they are only teaching two mods. To round up I learnt a lot especially on evidence laws (which I still say is not my thing). Very enriching. And its encouraging to hear that most ppl who took it last sem got an A+/A/A-. Hopefully can do well!

**************

Earth Hour today..Hall has this Earth Hour celeb which IMO didnt go well at all from the tech side. Inappropriate and messy requests gave me an idea of one or two simple performances (which one person can handle) which turned out to be four mid-high level performances and I was having a hard time juggling both the mixer and backstage. Thankfully a junior who happened to be around helpfully helped out. They decided to cancel the movie screening after Earth Hour as well (if you ask me, they wasted quite a bit of energy by getting tech to support them) because they predicted few audience...and hopefully not partly because I complained quite a bit to them about messy requests beforehand. Oops.

Anyway, heard this song..was performed tonight..though not the first time hearing it but this time round it made me youtube it. And I think the MV is reli good.

T-shirts

posted : Tuesday, October 21, 2008
Sudden inspiration which came after I was sort of convinced into buying an old Block 5 T-shirt for $5 today. (which came after I had my $10 haircut and $10 grocery shopping@FairPrice and $35 handphone bill).

I had way too many T-shirts!! Especially since I came to Singapore I have been buying like crazy. Sigh, I actually wished I could channel those money into nicer T-shirts lor. Or buy a nice new pair of slippers or pants. Oh you didnt know? I enjoyed shopping for clothes too. Just that never really had the money to buy them.

I remember every single piece of JC/NUS/RH related shirt I bought. I still wear most of them regularly. Except the MRL T-shirt which, sadly, has been relegated to becoming my pyjamas and is facing the fate of becoming my next piece of table cloth. (Whoops, sorry MH :) ) Ironically it was the most expensive shirt as well!! Just that it is, erm, well, MRL ppl will noe why. Haha.

Just to prove that my memory is good:

I had 2 Saints T-Shirt, one Saints Dri-fit Tee, one SA PE T-shirt, both versions of Venn House T-shirt, two versions of AVA T-shirt, 06S03 jersey, both versions of Open House 2006 T-shirts (had no idea why I buy both), and two versions of ASEAN Tee.

I also have Engineering Matric Fair shirt, NUSSU shirt, Rag&Flag 08 T-shirt, SupeRHawt T-shirt, and T-shirts for IBG, Concert, Civil Engineers, Malaysian Night, and now old version of Block 5. And I can already predict what is coming next. IHG T-shirt (which is credited directly into our hall account so no escape from that), new block 5 t-shirt (which I had already paid) and goodness knows what else. And the cycle will repeat itself next year?? Oh dear.

One thing is, these shirts are actually kind of useful coz they can be worn to classes since almost everybody is that under-dressed anyway. Jeans (which I wear everyday) are actually considered overdressed but I am unable to bring myself to go to classes in shorts or three-quarters yet. It just doesnt feel right lor..

I am running short on hangers!! In fact I re-stocked once already and I still don't have enough. And I can't believe my supposedly big wardrobe is getting very full. I can hear it burping already.

"Too packed!! We are getting suffocated!! Ahh!!!"

Hmm..must bring some of my clothes home in December. :)

A Sports News

posted : Wednesday, April 30, 2008
Recently read a piece of sports news..A rather weird piece of news so I thought I would share it.

Two kids in USA are going to court to sue each other, or rather, their parents advised them to do so. Guess what they are suing each other over.

Yep, this is the item which the two of them are fighting over. The jersey that their idol, David Beckham, took off after a match and supposedly handed over (or threw) to Boy A, though I suppose not in the condition as depicted by the picture...

Boy B is not happy about it because he insisted that the jersey was meant for him and tried to wrestle the jersey from Boy A. It resulted in a fight on the spot for the jersey and the boys’ parents stepped in and instead of stopping them, joined them.

Parents of Boy A demanded possession of the jersey by their child, since he caught it anyway. Parents of Boy B insisted that David Beckham supposedly told their child that he was to have the jersey. They also argued that their son should take the jersey since he has been waving the banner and cheering for Beckham for the whole match while Boy A just sat there and did nothing. Neither side wanted to give in, so they have to settle the case in court.

Wonder if Beckham would be a witness for the case?

Well, I personally duno what is there to fight for over a wet and dirty jersey which stinks of the player’s sweat (well, theoretically it should stink) and you obviously need to wash it (unless you are not thinking of doing so to ‘preserve’ the player’s smell, that would be quite freaky), and well its value will be the same as any normal jersey bought from the club’s store right? You might as well buy a new one and told everybody “David Beckham wore this!” and well nobody would be able to tell the difference. Imagine spending all that money fighting for the case while you could have spend it on so many other things.

Haizz..probably because I don’t idolize any player, or any other superstar, so you might say I don’t understand how it feels…but all the same, from a neutral point of view, the whole case is just so UNNECESSARY.

Still here

posted : Friday, April 25, 2008
It seems so unreal that when I am typing out this entry I am still stuck in the island named Singapore. I am supposed to be on board of the flight to Miri from JB now, after my dad advised me to come back home and wait for news at home...but unfortunately I couldnt get a ticket in the end. Bad internet connection at both my home and here, and the ticket price is soaring high...Plus I wasnt very enthu about it coz I still have some hope and decided to just stay and wait for one more day. Most likely I will be home on Sunday.

Went to watch "Funny Games" yesterday...it was supposed to be a sadistic show with crazy murderers but it ended up to be a stupid show which is not really that sadistic and not "funny" at all...the whole plot is quite pointless and it was the first time I ever felt that I wasted money and time on a show..maybe second after "No Country for Old Men" in which I totally didnt understand the story...

Anyway...I find TizMe very fun recently..I created a few characters..mostly of myself...anyway this is my favourite. Hehe..it didnt really look like me..for one, I couldnt find the correct hairstyle...and to begin with the body size is already wrong..and as mh points out i dun have an iPod..hmm, let's just say this is my ideal "image"...
I will try to confine myself to the apartment these few days so that I wont spend as much..haha..anyway sigh, the apartment is getting emptier as well..people are leaving and not coming back...
And I am still waiting.

My jumbled mind.

posted : Wednesday, April 23, 2008
I realize, with a jolt last night, that I mislead people by telling them SembCorp Scholarship gives $10000 of annual allowance. Well, actually not.

SembCorp did not state how much they give per year...the company that gives out $10000 annual allowance is actually Keppel Corporation..the main rival of SembCorp for which I also applied its scholarships but didnt make it. Lol..

Jumbled mind which mix and match information and presents it as a "new" piece of information.

Some people say this is how dreams work. You see things and places in real life, then in your dreams your mind will sort of mix and match them and so you see weird things, for instance you may dream that you are driving along a road in Brunei then suddenly you end up in Singapore or something. Or you may dream that you are stabbed by some unknown person (you probably seen this guy walking pass you somewhere in real life but though you dun remember, your mind sub-consciously remembers it), or you may dream that you are shot in your onw house. Such are examples of my dreams which I remember.

Hmm...interesting.

Life is getting so boring nowadays...stayed at home practicallay all the time except during meals. I wanted to go out, but going out = spending money and I dun wan that also.

Bored

Tiger Airways flying to Brunei soon!

posted : Wednesday, April 02, 2008
Singapore's no frills airline, Tiger Airways, will fly to Brunei beginning this month, Malaysia's The Star reported, quoting Tiger Group Chief Executive Officer, Tony Davis.
The Civil Aviation Department officials in Brunei, when contacted, said the low cost airline sought approval to fly to Brunei a long time back. "We have to consider since they have the entitlement because of the MoU signed between the two countries."
Besides Brunei, East Malaysia is Tiger's next destination. Tony Davis believes that the airline could provide alternative linkages to East Malaysia from Singapore and the rest of the world. He said passengers flying Tiger from China to Australia were asking for access to East Malaysia and Tiger believes it can play a part to promote tourism in Sabah and Sarawak.
"People in East Malaysia have asked us many times to fly there. We are willing but it really depends on the government. We are in talks and hope to reach an agreement soon," Davis told The Star.
"People from Australia and China want to go to East Malaysia via Singapore, but as the fares are high and access from Singapore is limited, they are just bypassing Malaysia," he added.
Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
That should mean cheaper direct flight air tickets to Singapore. =) No more long journeys from Brunei - Miri - Johor Bahru - Singapore!!! =p
