Final day in Japan!

Started day late again. Stayed up late the night before to pack and helping the sister who isnt great at making full use of luggage space.

Checked out, left luggage behind as usual, and headed back to Shibuya. Idea was to look for a nice sushi restaurant in the area. Was targeting this place but we had to wait 70+ queue numbers o.O so back to an old haunt which again, have visited in my last trip.






No real plans for the rest of the day so it's a free and easy day. Did a bit of shopping in Shibuya, then headed back to Shinjuku in the early afternoon, did a bit of shopping and headed over to Tochomae a.k.a Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, where there's an free observatory at the 38th floor with nice views of the city and even Mt Fuji. Bit of a queue to get up because obviously many people have the same idea of visiting the place to catch sunset.







Back to Shinjuku for one last bowl of ramen for dinner! And once again in good luck because when we left the place after dinner, a long queue had formed outside.



Was walking around Shinjuku aimlessly after dinner when the sister suggested that we go back to Shibuya to see the crossing at night lol. Dont have better ideas and still have a couple of hours to kill before heading to airport so we did just that.




Headed back to the hotel, collected luggage and did a bit of repacking, then off to the airport we go, taking the same route as the day we arrived. Flight was at 2am and check in counters only open at 11pm, and we reached at about 930pm which meant we had some time to kill in the airport. Planned to get more food souvenirs in the airport but most shops had closed by then, didnt expect that.

Did find an outdoor observatory though! Nice place to hang out if it wasnt so windy and cold.



Decided to camp out at the check-in counters and found a long queue instead. Oh yea forgot that it's Singaporeans we are competing with, totally got out-kiasued. And had some problems checking in because the ground staff initially refused to allow the sister to take out her luggage at the Singapore leg, which kinda pissed us off. It was only later we realised that they got suspicious probably because we were travelling together but had different tickets - mine ended in Singapore and my sister's in Brunei, and they probably suspected that she only bought this to get a cheaper ticket and was intending to drop off in Singapore all along. Which of course was just a coincidence, but they didnt explain much, just insisted that this is their policy all along and they made an exception wow thanks yea.

Had time for supper at MOS Burger (lol) then went to clear immigration. Turns out there are some shops inside the departure hall, including a makeshift area dedicated for food souvenirs, remain open 24/7 to cater for travelers on late flights. And mostly Chinese tourists :/ Didnt factor in time for this and by the time I was done (there's a bit of queue and the sister wasnt interested), boarding had begun o.O so it's a rushed goodbye to Japan.



Didnt get much sleep on the plane coz no window seats :( sacrificed that for the sister. Arrived in Singapore nice and early, and by noon time, already done one round of laundry hahahah. Spent the rest of the day napping and popped out for a quick dinner.

Sent off the sister on a Grab the next morning at 6 and got picked up to go monitoring. Life comes at you fast =.=

So that's the official end of the trip! Another memorable trip and pretty sure it will not be my last trip to Japan. Like I said in the post-trip reflection post - many places which I intend to return to and explore. Language surprisingly isnt too big a barrier because I can read quite a bit, as the kanji words meant the same thing as Chinese would have. And the people are just nice. Food is awesome. Nothing much more that you can ask for.
