Japan 2019: Shopping in Harajuku

posted : Thursday, February 28, 2019
This was meant to be another day trip (and another revisit), to Lake Kawaguchiko to see Mt Fuji. Which honestly I could do without coz been there done that but I thought the sister would like to see. But turns out she prefers staying in Tokyo instead (I think sick of travelling around) and there really are quite a number of places which could have visited in Tokyo so cancelled the plans.

Which means we can start the day late (again). Oh yea part of the reason was that in order to get to Lake Kawaguchiko and maximise day time spent there, we were supposed to leave early which wasnt exactly an appealing idea at this point of the trip hahah.

Dropped by Meiji Shrine first.

Dropping off at Yoyogi station

Entrance

Nice shady foresty walk towards the shrine

Lanterns

Entrance into the shrine proper and can see the crowd already.

The shrine

So there are way too many people again and we thought, it probably wont be too different from Sensoji Temple? So made a right turn and headed out of the shrine grounds.

Found another street food fest so that's our brunch

Headed out of the the forest and at the end of it is Harajuku Station. Lined with shops and shopping streets and alleys, so it's a relaxing shopping day!

This looks iconic

Again a nice day for a stroll outside

Takeshita Street

Interesting take on a cream puff

Found this and they only had 3 slots per day, 20 plates per slot! We missed the first one so we decided to come back for the second slot. Came back 45 minutes in advance and queue was starting to form so we parked ourselves there. Paid off!

Crowd is out in full force

The sister had regular pancakes

This is gram's signature fluffy pancakes! Very eggy and fluffy.

Harajuku area is nice place to shop really. Just many classy shops which are not high end boutiques kind and I think the weather really helps.

Claw machine for shoes?!

The sister queued for Line Shop so I went exploring on my own for a bit. Nice place to shop.

Awwww why so glum.

Long walk via the Cat Street towards Shibuya area for dinner and strolling around the area post dinner.

Omotesando. Next time I am in Tokyo, I'd like to come back here again.

Cat Street

Shibuya crossing, revisited

What did I say about Shinjuku and Shibuya looking similar

Really really wanted to have yakiniku for once. Went around a few places, found this place and turns out its opened by Chinese so not so sure about authenticity...but at least can communicate and we got an all pork/chicken plate.

Sizzling

Wanted to spend more time inside MEGA Donki actually but it's our last full day in Japan so didnt want to be back too late since we had to pack. Also for financial reasons hahah. Never mind at least we combed through all the levels already.

Not just any Don Quijote...it's MEGA!

Trip is coming to an end!
