June

Went silent for two and a half months heh.
June is always a significant month for me coz it marks the halfway point of the year....not. Coz my birthday falls on June lah hahaha.
I don't know why but I have been feeling slightly excited about it this year. Lots of plans going through my mind on what to do on the day itself, but nothing concrete up to the weekend before. It falls on a Saturday this year so I don't need to take leave but we have birthday leave starting from this year so I did plan to use it the following week.
So the plan was to go for breakfast somewhere, go shopping for birthday gift somewhere (planned to get a watch) and get a nice dinner somewhere.
All this alone (sigh) coz I wasn't expecting to spend it with anybody this year and I have kind of prepared myself for a quiet one.
Colleagues celebrated for me the day before! To be honest they caught me by surprise coz it was at a sprightly 930am (it usually doesn't happen that early in a day). Went for a meeting with the AMK boys and came back to a party (sort of) in my cube. Present this year is a bag! A bit not my style but I think I can adjust. Maybe a good time for a makeover of sorts hahah.
They made me pose o.O

Then went for SEA Games Opening Ceremony with ML. Started out with I think a few people and ended up only two people going. Ceremony was okay, kind of typical of an opening ceremony, just that for some reason the roof stayed close throughout and nobody in the stadium can see the fireworks =.= oh well.
Lights featured prominently throughout the games.

On to the day itself! Started out with brunch at Les Patisserie in Toa Payoh. Good that it is not crowded at all and I can enjoy my meal in peace, probably can come back some time soon. Then off to meet Stel at her event. Um must say I wasn't too inspired actually. Not my cup of tea.
Spent some time hunting for a dinner place in the vicinity of Beach Road/Haji Lane, stumbled on J's which I went last year and was pretty impressed by, but when we reached there it was fully booked. So we're the few other places which we visited urgh. Ended up settling for this place called Laffio, which was pretty empty. Home made pasta and pizza was not bad actually. Then journeyed to Lady M for dessert (cake), hung around inside Starbucks Fullerton Boathouse (without getting any drinks lol) for a bit and called it a day.

Finally tried Lady M. M for meh.
Wasn't what I pictured in mind but I guess I am glad I wasn't alone at the end.
Turned out to be a pretty eventful month too coz I managed to catch up with the CVE gang, Val (!) who came down to meet her nursing friends post-exam and KH who was on a business trip! Met Val over dinner at Marche where we just sat there and chit chat till 10.30pm. And got a bday dinner treat off boss Su who went a bit crazy over Cantonese style food heh.
Val!
and Boss Su!
On a sombre note..there was the one-day trip back to Malacca to attend 大姨妈's funeral. Passed away, sadly alone (cousins and 姨丈 was out) after four years of cancer battle. The nice lady who, controversially, didn't get the most proper of sending off which left my mum and other relatives reeling. But to be honest, she's now free from all suffering and can rest in peace.
So I suppose that's a wrap for June updates. Guess I can't exactly call it a great month, but oh well, till next year then.
