The City That Never Sleeps

Korea 2015: The accommodation

posted : Saturday, April 25, 2015
Recalled that our accommodation in Taiwan got progressively lousier as the trip went by ahahaha.

This time round we had two hotels and two AirBnB accommodation! Jeju was San's choice, YongPyong was KH's, I settled Seoul and helped Stel with Busan too.

First - Jeju December Hotel.

Which we didn't have pics of coz we messed up the room before we had chance to take photos. And overslept so no time to take pics before leaving ahaha.

It was a tad too small for 5 people to be honest. KH, to his delight, drew the makeshift 5th bed (from layers of bed covers). The rest of us took the two double beds. It wasn't fantastic, but comfortable and clean enough la. Anyway we were rarely inside the room so it didn't matter much.

Next up - our accom in Seoul.

Location was good! 5 minutes walk to Namyeong, and Sookmyung Women's University which are on two different lines so coverage was good. Was very affordable for such central location, a steal for the budget we were on (ok we exceeded budget slightly la) which was 25SGD per person per night. In the first place I like the idea of a loft - there's one double mattress and one single mattress in the attic, and a double bed downstairs. And it had everything we need! Washing machine (super important lol) and detergent, lots of cooking utensils, fridge, cable TV, toiletries, wifi, cleaning equipment etc. Heh I remember at the end of one day after we came back KH for some strange reason started cleaning up the entire apartment lol.

Host, other than being late in picking us up, did all he can to explain how things work in his unit. Turns out to be the only time we saw him.

The room!

View from the window. I slept at the attic throughout..and remembered waking up every day and thinking I sure dont mind seeing this view every morning.

Can see Namsan Tower too!

Toilet, nothing really fancy

Wardrobe which was exclusive for our winter jackets only heh

Tadaa! Kitchenette and washing machine, can hide it if unsightly lol.

Then up to Yongpyong where stayed at Dragon Valley Hotel. The resort is old, room was spacious it's the traditional kind which didn't have beds and we had to arrange our own thin mattress/quilt. It also happened to be the most expensive one but I suppose that's part of its appeal for being a ski resort.

And the last one, our AirBnB accom in Busan. Haeundae turns out to be a terrible location coz it's really far from Busan city centre. But the place was spanking new and also a steal in terms of budget. Layout is really similar to the Seoul one, like a loft. Equipment and fittings are pretty new and high tech (think smart toilet seats that can heat up lol). We spent much less time here as compared to the Seoul one.

Slightly smaller in terms of size as compared to the Seoul one.

Similar layout except that you can store the dining table away when not in use.

Built in fridge!

Drinks provided.

Toilet was new and modern (rain shower FTW)

The attic.

All in all pretty value for money! Very positive experience with AirBnB so far (my Taipei trip last year plus this trip).
