Week 2

Has been a totally unproductive one.
Had 4 day weeks for the first two weeks of school since the only class I have on Fridays (one hour SSD seminars) only starts in week 3..and my Thursday is pretty free too with just one hour of lecture + the 3 hour TE class at night. Have quite a bit to complain about that module (specifically, the lecturer) and you will hear from me in a while. And to top it all up I skipped my Forensic lectures promising myself that I will watch webcasts. So yep. A fair bit of free time in between, honestly should have made full use of it on things like watching webcast and finishing up the first tutorials. Long story cut short (ok maybe not that long) - I didnt do them all. The only productive things I did was to chase after people for articles (sigh) and looking through articles while consistently wondering if I will survive this season (accidents happen which really had nothing to do with me but it made me look really bad in front of the governing people sigh). Never mind about that. I am still glad that I got a bit of extra manpower, hopefully it can make things better. The patriotic side of me cheered out loud everytime RH won a game or got into semis; the evil side of me started chanting "don't get into finals else I would have another article to cover". Whoops I hope no big shot reads this. Jk lah. Rushed down to Changi last week to send off Kryss and this week it's Sam's turn. Turnout wasnt great and we had to dash into the last train leaving Changi but hey, if there is a huge group not everybody can send off properly right? Hehe :) Brings back memories of the last time I took the last train back to McNair from Expo, announcements made at all the interchanges "This is the last train leaving for XXXX. Please board the train" and some empty trains resting on tracks in the opp direction where the last train for that direction have left. Kind of freaked me out lol. This time is much milder though. Classes have officially got into full swing this week, some tutorials started. Switched tutorial group for structural analysis coz the tutor just walked in and sat down at the students' tables. After a while she turned around and said "I am your tutor, you know." and the 4 or 5 of us in the room were like stunned. "This is my first time tutoring so I don't really know what to do. If you have any questions you can ask me." More awkward silence. After confirming that she wont be doing anything except waiting for questions, we left for a second tutorial group with a different tutor and thankfully she explain concepts clearly and cleared potential doubts, the way we are kind of used to. Didnt bother to break out of our comfort zone by asking questions but I think that failed tutor probably beats the failed lecturer for my Level 5 TE. Think I complained one round already in my previous post and this week he just sucked even more. He gets himself confused over basic concepts which we undergrads learn last year (and it is really simple concepts of floats) and blame it on the notes which wasnt prepared by him but he re-used the regular prof's notes. Uh stage fright maybe. But thankfully next week will be his last week (if I am not wrong) and by the looks of it we might not learn anything new either. =.= Out for CNY shopping for two Saturdays in a row..duno why I did it given that I have already settled it anyway. First Sat was sort of a "traditional" pre-post-CNY outing for me and Stel - went for lunch at Chili's at Tanglin Mall - pricey and so-so only so don't think I will ever go back there. Orchard ION and Nex at Serangoon were our other destinations. Plenty of CNY sales and clearance sales this month and unfortunately succumbed to these coz was thinking of stocking up some work clothes for my planned internship this summer. Today's shopping session was unplanned however...started out with dim sum breakfast (turned into brunch and eventually lunch) with GeokYin, Wendy, Wendy's bro Jeffrey and EngAik. Almost three years since I last saw them in person (bizarre especially since EA is just studying in NTU) and had a good time catching up. Nice to hear that everybody is increasingly liking what they are studying :) and kind of relieved coz I dont exactly have to say much about "what happened to your face" because there was a pharmacist-to-be and doctor-to-be among the camp and they pretty much correctly guessed it at the first attempt. Cozy little gathering, enjoyed it and after we part me and Stel went for more shopping =.= Stel trying to suit up for next week's Career Fair and I tried hunting for more work clothes..din reli see any cheap ones so din get anything useful in the end. Ended up having dinner at Nando's (finally!) and walking to Suntec - walk around a bit and headed back..can't help feeling guilty coz it has been an academically unproductive week... 10 more days to CNY break and I can't wait!
