...and somehow I am still in holiday mood :(

Actually I had a lot of time this week. Coz only lectures are held for the first two weeks and since only four of my modules have lectures I am quite free. Good time to start doing tutorials and finish my articles. Thank god the articles are ok and I don't need to re-write any.

I am taking 5 modules again this semester..mainly because I don't want to take 3 modules that are very "artsy", in other words, need to read a lot and write a lot. So in the end I had 2 core modules, EG1109 Statics and Mechanics of Materials (which happen to be a Civil Eng core) and MA1506 Mathematics II, one compulsory Physics breadth PC1432 Physics IIE, EG1413 Critical Thinking and Writing (sigh) to satisfy faculty requirement and GEK1007 Chinese Heritage: History and Literature to satisfy university requirements.

Lecturers this semester are way better than last sem's. No more "bounding" (bonding), "fee-thers" (feathers) and "har-niss" (hardness). No more Maths lecturer who was so absorbed in lecturing (not that I went for many Maths lecture last sem anyway). Now I had a few ang-moh lecturers and local ones who are not too bad, except for one. Oh well, I guess I couldnt ask for more.

I was actually kind of looking forward to the Chinese Heritage lecture at first. Note that it is taught in English though. The lecturer gave an intro to the module and covered the outlines etc, then had a Q&A session, during which he claimed that bookstores are not selling the recommended texts and library would have enough to cater to all of us (there are 150 of us and the lecture hall was extremely crowded). Then one Chinese girl pointed out she checked in the library already and there are only at most 2 copies, much to the "surprise" of the lecturer who did not offer to do anything about it, and dismiss the problem in a "too bad" manner and told us to go order in bulk instead (from US) so that we can save on postage fees. Wow, that is so darn helpful. Thankfully an engineering girl saved the day by volunteering to borrow out from the library and photocopy for all of us. Whew. Or else, as the lecturer claims, by just reading his notes we are all going to fail. :S

The lecture itself is err..kind of boring. The first lecture of the sem in which I actually felt like sleeping as he talked about ancient and medieval China. Unfortunately the syllabus only covers history up to medieval China, i.e up to tha Tang dynasty, which is a pity because modern China (from Song dynasty a.k.a. 960 AD onwards - dun ask me why that is considered "modern") is much more interesting lor. And sigh, i dun reli enjoy Chinese literature. Too bad the module is the only one I have slight interest in (and one that can fit my timetable) after I failed to bid for my SS module. No mid-terms, only tutorial participation and group research project (sigh). And lecturers says we cannot answer the final exam in Chinese but if ever we can supplement answers with some original Chinese text that will be a bonus. o__O

Still haven't found time to go window-shopping..sienz. Got auxes to do too, hopefully can finish them before things get too busy..and kind of made up my mind to join float liao. Before that I was still considering if I shud pull out. But I guess I can stand 2 months here during May hols.

11 days to CNY!
