SupeRHawt Days 5-9

posted : Wednesday, August 06, 2008
Hehe, a super quick update on what has happened since I last posted about RH orientation weekS.

Day 5:
No activities in the afternoon since the seniors were catching up some sleep. Apparently ALL the seniors including those not in the orientation committee stayed up the whole night to prepare for the Phoenix Initiation Ceremony (i duno if this name is right) at 5 am this morning. So, I took the opportunity to go and sign up for a new mobile plan, and got my beloved new phone, and the plan which I am starting to hate but accept it. Rushed back to the hall to change and head off to ML's house for my JC class gathering. Enjoyable, met a lot of ppl which I havent seen for ages and had fun chatting with them. When i got back, there was a block bonding cum ragging session going on in front of my room, and I successfully walked into my room without any of the seniors noticing. So lucky! Haha.

Day 6:
Sentosa Day. I was feeling very lethargic and could not wake up in the morning. Hence I decided to skip the whole event. Boo. Yea yea, I am a very bad boy...whatever. In the end we decided to visit PGP again where Ryan baked scones for us in Kryss' cluster kitchen. Delicious :) It was basically a slack day since the Sentosa people didnt come back until 2am.

Day 7:
Again, due to their late return last nite, no activities from morning to afternoon so we went for a long walk after lunch to the NUS Central Library, only to discover that it is closed on Sundays. Rahh. We ended up going window shopping in Vivo instead. There was the "Big Board Game" at night which is erm, not very fun but quite okay, since there were misunderstandings of the game everywhere and the rules keep changing. Hmm, feedback, maybe they should have more dry runs for the game...

Day 8:
Highlight of the day is the Hall Admission Exam (which was a hoax altogether) and the Freshmen Inauguration Ceremony organized by the Office of Student Affairs and NUS Student Union. It was a formal event, so we had to wear formal again and sat inside University Cultural Centre listening to speeches by NUS President and NUSSU president and watched some performances. What do I take away from this experience? Goodies bags.

Day 9:
NUS Flag Day (and Amazing Race Day simultaneously for Rafflesians). However this is the modified version of Amazing Race (and a simpler one) because we just need to complete 10 tasks in any order. So we went flagging (as in collecting donations) in the morning at Bugis. A rather bad choice of location since we went late and there were already a lot of NUS students collecting there. Mind you, the whole NUS went out for Flag Day island wide. So it is kind of difficult to collect money, and I had to go to a more secluded area, which only "heats up" during lunch time. Despite that I managed 450g of coins. LOL. That was around one third of the can only. We went for lunch and decided to switch our focus to the amazing race instead and we went around trying to complete the tasks, which included pictures with a trishaw, drink herbal tea, eat prata, visit Fort Canning Park etc. For some reason this was the day in which our OG got very hyper (sugar high maybe? haha) and we ended up doing very little flagging in the afternoon. OG dinner followed, and the day ended on a high note. Literally.

3 more days remaining for SupeRHawt, and the bulk of the activities have ended as well. Only leaving other events such as Rag Day and of course the preparations. Till then...

P.S. I haven posted any pictures of my beloved phone yet. :(
