Prince George's Park Residences (PGPR), single room (by the looks of it the owner just moved in)
AND...
Single room in Raffles Hall (courtesy of Raffles Hall website)
OR...

Double room in Raffles Hall (from the same website) which most freshmen got sent to.
Yes, I got an email today from the official whom I appealed to earlier this month and she informed me my appeal was successful and I was now posted to Raffles Hall instead of PGPR.

Somehow, the initial shock of getting posted to PGP has died away in the two weeks of wait and I find myself actually kind of looking forward to staying there, as I read online more and more praises for PGP appeared and criticism for RH crept up. And I started convincing myself that probably appeal wont be successful.

And it turned out to be.

Erm, somebody please kick me because I happened to be thinking whether I should go and ask if I could have my PGP offer back.

Advantages of RH:
1) It is near to the Engineering Faculty (very near, in fact, just next to it) so that I can wake up later and still won't miss lectures.
2) Meals plans are available (and compulsory) so no worries about meals
3) Fun and enriching hall activities (so-called fun and enriching, I duno, i never experience that)
4) More fresh air into the room (Nayan claims). To be honest that wasn't one of my concerns.

Disadvantages of RH:
1) Food is notoriously bad (can't comment on that until I tasted it) and have to pay more for tea-time which I don't think I will attend.
2) Freshmen got posted to double rooms (saw this piece of info while doing a blog search) and since double rooms are smallest among all the NUS halls..well, less privacy. Unless I am rooming with somebody I know well otherwise it is going to be hard. Still, I prefer single rooms.
3) Hall activities are described by some as "annoying". (No comment) But I guess I might be able to put up with that.

Disadvantages of PGP:
1) No meal plans are available. That means I have to settle meals myself, either in the hostel food court (can seriously grow tired of it) or some other place or cook myself.
2) Extremely far from Engineering Faculty. To be honest, it doesnt concern me too much, after all, there are shuttle buses, though it may not be too dependable.

Advantages of PGP:
1) I take charge of my own meals (which happens to be a disadvantage as well) and may as well make it cheaper than the meal plans in halls.
2) Single rooms (which is my main priority)
3) Quiet environment

Pardon me, but all these is for my reference so that I can see them easier. It does helps because as I typed out all these I am suddenly crystal clear on the main issue: availability of a single room.

Right, I shall remain positive for now and assume I got my preferred single room. So after everything I typed up there, I will be going to Raffles Hall (so anti-climax..duh).

I seriously hope nothing goes wrong anymore...these two weeks have been so long.
