...which I only attended for the night session. No choice, since I decided to do registration yesterday instead of today. My time slot was 11am to 12pm, but since the ICA counters for Student Pass application closes for lunch break at 12pm, I had to wait until 2pm before I could queue for my application.
Nohing great about the whole affair, except queues, queues and more queues. But meanwhile, with my brand new NUS student card, I could access the upper hall where a matriculation fair is going on. First stop, collect a free 1GB thumbdrive courtesy of the NUS Student Union (NUSSU). Haha..and basically the rest of the fair consists of booths of all the university CCAs..and towards the end there are a few booths from the official sponsors i think, such as DBS Bank and Singtel. Sadly, I cannot get my N81 from the matric fair roadshow by Singtel, and since I dun want to get any other phones, I missed my waiver of registration fees and a further $30 discount. Aaarggh. So now I will need to sign up somewhere else and possibly I need to pay a total of over $400 for my phone since I don't have a local guarantor as well and need to pay a deposit. Sigh. All the lengths I go in order to get my N81. Highlight of last night was the Annual Formal Dinner, so everybody (theoretically) had to attend in formal attire. The food was nice, though it wasn't served in a very nice way. We had veggie salad in a plastic disposable container, mushroom soup in a polystyrene bowl, drink from a polystyrene cup, main course in a normal porcelain plate (luckily not paper plates) and dessert from a plastic container as well. (beh would be horrified). The guests had far better treatment. Haha. Following the dinner was a talk by the guest-of-honour which all have to attend as well. Wasnt paying attention all the time but had to act as if I did. Hehe. We were released early following the talk and after which my OG decided to go for an OG outing to the nearest mamak stall which is at least 20min walk from the hall, and we went at around 12am. Needless to say, we came back late at around 2.45am. Labels: NUS, Raffles Hall |
