The City That Never Sleeps

Frustration

I decided to go Coffee Zone on my own today in search for more reliable internet sources. Yep, I found them, but what a frustrating afternoon it turned out to be.

The main objective was to complete NTU Scholarship Applications. Documents to prepare beforehand: a short essay, letter of recommendation, passport size photo (all soft copies). I even prepared a simple draft of what I will fill for the CCAs, academic awards and stuff.

Started filling in the Academic Awards Section. The space they gave was so small! "Australian Chemistry Competition High Distinction Award" ended up as "Australian Chemistry Competition High Distin". In the end I had to use abbreviations here and there and I didnt like it at all. It looked awkward.

Next was on past scholarships. And I couldnt fill in the value for ASEAN, coz they expected u do give some figures. It ended up as $2400 per annum though the actual value is much more (including hostel fees and stuff).

Next part was the essay, which was 50 words too long. Took some more time to cut down the number of words.

And so on and so forth.

Submitted the application, and then moved on to the part where they required me to submit my photo and letter of recommendation. Photo was a bit too big, because the specifications they gave on the submission page did not match the one they gave previously, so took some more time to re-size my photo.

Then read the part on letter of recommendation. "Please include your name and application number on the letter". Shucks. Mine does not have my application number on it! I was stumped. Tried some moves on the spot, such as trying to copy and paste my application number onto the scanned letter, which happened to be in PDF format. Didnt work. Tried to copy the letter and edit it on "Paint" (coz I dun wanna waste time figuring out how Photoshop works). Didnt work either.

So frustrated. I ended up deciding to go home, print out the letter, write down the application number, and re-scan it. And there was little time left for my research on University of Melbourne, Monash University and Australian National University. So did a rushed research, didnt manage to find much details (frustration!), and when I left I realized it was raining. Just the type of weather I dislike.

Went home and did what I mentioned earlier. And when I re-scanned it, since there are two pages, i ended up with two PDF files. And the website only allowed the submission of one file.

Screams.

Racked my brains to find some way of merging the two PDF files. Nothing. Tried to look for solutions online, but the stupid internet is just way too slow.

Then realized I could just compress the two files into a zip file. Tadah!

But the internet is just too slowwwwwwwwwwww..........

Couldnt upload the file. Tried to get Susan to help, but the transferring of files via MSN didnt work either.

Fine, I give up. You win. I would just have to do it tomorrow.

RAHHHHHH......
