The City That Never Sleeps

Rantings~~~

I felt bad. I get a feeling that I am the only person whom, when thrown the question, "what are ur plans for the future?", could not come up with a proper answer but still face-thick and try to come up with a so-called "decent" answer, one that will stop other people from continuing to ask, though not for long.

Singapore O Level results have been released. No news on how Peng Soon or Alice have done, but all eyes are on the A Level results now. Traditionally, O Level results are released on the Friday before Friendship Week, and A Level results will be released two to three weeks after that. This year is an exception though, O Level results released much earlier experimentally, since next year there wont be anymore provisional intakes for JC Level. A Level results will still be released at around end of February or early March. Oh fine. Doomsday.

Where to go? I am still thinking of Singapore, NUS preferably, if not NTU. SMU is totally out of question. My parents are still trying to convince me about Australia, personally I really dont mind, but apparently one thing they havent understand is that they only consider "Australia" as big as "Melbourne", specifically, "Monash U". Their idea is to have me stay wif my sis. But that wasnt what I wanted..Melbourne, yes, maybe, but not Monash i guess. Not a thought given to UK or US universities.

Course of choice? Currently it stands at chemical engineering. The only one which i can only think of taking. Slim chances for pharmacy, for which Australian universities only have one intake. Singapore universities only take those who took Biology for A Levels, so this option is almost out as well. Earlier ideas of forensics are out...i decided that it was a bit too idealistic..leaves one last option..with rumours that it is not easy to get into in NUS, too.

My 如意算盘 is that get into a Singaporean university, which gives me chance to apply for ASEAN scholarships. I am not ambitious, I dont need a fancy scholarship that requires me to be their next poster-boy, I just need one that can get me through for the next few years. And if I dont get one..it just proves that I dont deserve one or I haven work hard enough..

And by saying that I am banking almost everything on my results. I have nothing to speculate about my results yet, this is the first time I am taking an exam in Singapore, I dont know how high the standards will be, and what i am capable of achieve. I did everything I can, but I am simply uncertain of the results. One more thing that stands in my way of a Singaporean university is GP...anything lower than a C and I am not in any good position for admissions.

Putting all those aside...and talking about the VERY near future...in fact, present...I am still rotting at home. With lesser and lesser activities to pursue. Heroes Season I is done, I now spent hours on games like Worms. Sims 2 getting boring too. Some of my friends have gotten a job, teaching, waiter, vet assistant, office admin, phone operator, dentist receptionist, even ice-cream shop assistant...i joined the very small "unemployed"gang.

Driving lessons left me in even more frustration. After a long long wait and with lots of luck, I passed the law test with flying colours, 49/50. Thought I could go for driving lessons at last, when they told me to go on Tuesday for L License application and theory classes. Guess what happened when I went on Tuesday, they told me I should have came on Monday instead. What's wrong wif u ppl?? U told me to come on "Selasa" and unless the world turned upside down "Selasa" means "Tuesday" and nothing else for me. And didnt even apologize for the mistake, if u din accuse me of listening wrongly means u noe its a problem on ur side. Freaking hell...and no lessons until 4 Feb, which he wanted me to come for replacement in addition to another 3 hours theory lesson (I missed 3 hours of theory on Monday), making 6 hours in total. And I cant make it too, since I will be flying back to KL on that day. Guess what, no lessons until 18 February. And shortly after that I might miss lessons again, since I need to make a trip to Singapore. WTH. It took me 3 months just for the driving lessons which can be easily completed under one month. What's left me more frustrated is that I am blamed for missing a chance to get a license under Brunei Govt, since I came back late during June hols due to AVA camp and went back early to prepare for BT2. Perhaps I should have given up BT2, since it was not at all important anyway, come to think of it.

I hate to think of the problem of when to go back to Singapore for results. I had no accurate info on the date of release of results. And unlike my West Malaysian friends I do not have the convenience of not needing to book tickets in advance to avoid pricey tickets. They can always catch a bus down on short notice. Totally different case for me. And place to stay? Apparently the most possible option is XinLin and Co. 's apartment, if not McNair which is a bit expensive. Problem is the apartment have quite a bit of people staying in there.

I developed a new idea of spending time, having a cup of coffee while surfing net for one afternoon at Coffee Bean or Coffee Zone, where I can do all the research I want, download all the stuff I want. Problem? Transport, as ever. AHHHH!!!!! I wish I can drive (legally) NOW!!!!!
