Chinese New Year...over

posted : Saturday, March 03, 2007
Before you knew it, well, CNY is over (well, almost). Looking back, I dont think I have really enjoyed my 15 days, except the first few days.

First few days was as usual a reunion with my family. I went back to Malacca on Chinese New Year Eve, had reunion with my aunt's family (instead of my own because my parents reached Malacca at 8++ pm). The next two days were as usual, visiting relatives, eating good food, and getting angpao money =p. Had to came back to Singapore on the third day because school reopens on the 4th day, and there was a massive trafic jam in the highway...most of my friends got caught in it too. In the end I reached hostel at around 7pm (when my bus is 1pm) and had to sit down to do my GP homework...sad right. In the end I didnt manage to finish it anyway.
The rest of the Chinese New Year, well there wasnt much enjoyment to begin with due to the homework and tests..the teachers simply do not care about holidays, what a sad case.

On the 6th day there was a Chinese New Year Steamboat Dinner in our hostel, and the food is simply DISGUSTING. The way they gave us food is like one plastic bag with all sorts of things inside...and the soup base is so salty! And the pork, which upon cooking is supposed to turn white, didnt, and none of us dared to eat. Even the cooked food (e.g. Fried rice) had some weird smell. In the end only the yee-sang (鱼生) was "safe" to eat (anyway there is no fish in it..)

On the 7th day, there was some teambuilding activities in school which all of us have to attend (I still think it is a stupid thing) to foster good relationships among the JC1 and JC2 scholars..so we played some teambuilding games, attend a talk, and attend enrichment courses. I learned how to make a Thai salad, which was quite delicious. In the afternoon we went to our civics tutor's (basically form teacher) house...well we are supposed to go there ourselves, we alighted 2 bus stops before the real one (because her hand drawn map was inaccurate) and on our way walking there it actually rained. In the end she had to drive out to give us umbrellas and drove some of us there. We ate there, and played cards, gambling using peanuts..lol. Some of them were eating while playing well so they ended up losing very fast lol.

On the 8th day, Val & I went to EA's house. We met up in Newton Food Court for a very full lunch before making our way there (it was raining again). Did nothing much the whole afternoon except playing EA's games and watching TV and had dinner at EA's house.

Well nothing much worth mentionong about Chinese New Year..except that I fell sick! Which was quite a sad thing coz I had 4 tests in 3 days next week...I need a lot of time to study..especially one of the tests which was my H3 Chemistry Test. And after this week there will be Term 1 holidays! But nothing much to cheer about, though. Guess what is coming up right after holidays? Yeap, you are right...BLOCK TEST 1...Yearghh... got to go to study now.
