没有上课的日子

Life in Singapore can be at both ends: when you are busy, you are really busy, as in there are not much free time. On the other hand, when you are free, you are really free…as in nothing to do!
That was what I experienced. Ok, these few days have been interesting as it seems. I tried some things which I haven’t tried or haven’t have chance to try before. Let’s begin with where I left off. On 31 October, I went to school for OP Dry Run 2. This one was quite smooth compared to the first one, where my group stumbled and as many as 3 out of 4 members didn’t finish their parts within 5 minutes. This time, our group was the second team to present (last time we were the last)(we should be the first actually), since the first group which was supposed to be the last didn’t want to and went first despite strong protests. But that was out of point. This time, we presented within 5 minutes, and managed to answers question posed at us quite well. After the OP some of my classmates and I made our way to Queensway Shopping Centre, had our lunch at a food court nearby, and went into the shopping centre itself to scout for some nice designs for our class jersey and check out the prices. Found some nice ones at reasonable prices also. Now is up to the class to decide which one they want! Well printing class t-shirts and jerseys are a common thing in Singapore..until my wardrobe is full of this sort of t-shirts: CCA t-shirts, class t-shirts, school t-shirts and so on. But this is a relatively new experience to me and I personally think that going around wearing a t-shirt that has your own name on it would be pretty cool. Haha. Right after that two of my friends and I took a taxi to Orchard Road..I was supposed to go to Kinokuniya for a book trip with my fellow librarians. In short we get to buy books for the school library, but there are two types of books that are banned in the library: Harry Potter series and books written by Dan Brown. (well, I can understand why they banned Dan Brown books, but why Harry Potter though?) And it is a nice feeling as you walked along the shelves, picking books u like and putting it into the basket, as if you don’t have to pay for them. Haha. Anyway the school’s budget for this particular book trip is $1000. By the way this day is also Kah Hou’s Birthday and Halloween. At this point most of the people in the hostel (Well, JC1s and Sec 3s to be exact) are feeling very bored already: their exams are over a long time ago, well at least the Sec 3 Cedar Girls can busy themselves packing up since they are leaving for home, we JC1s really couldn’t find anything better to do. Well some people may want to start on their holiday assignments, but not me! Instead, I busied myself re-watching 酒店风云 on YouTube..but due to the bad internet connection I only managed 15 episodes (out of the 30) 1/11, we decided to go on a movie marathon this night. Well actually we only wanted to watch one, but ended up watching three movies in a row..The Covenant, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and The Haunting. Started at around 8.30am and finished at around 2.30am. 2/11 went out supposedly for window shopping at Suntec City. In the end, we ended up buying socks at Carrefour (yea, there was a promotion, 4 pairs for $9.90 so we paired up and bought two pairs each and they are very colourful socks). What more, we went for grocery shopping for another movie marathon which we planned but in the end never take place anyway. 3/11,celebrated the birthday of two friends tonight, Samantha and Pui Kheun. Quite a coincidence because they were born on the same year also and ended up in the same hostel. Haha. After that, watched another movie “Click” until 2am..went back to the room but Mun Hon actually convinced me not to sleep and we ended up deciding to go to McDonald’s for breakfast at 4.30am. So while waiting for the time, we cleared up our own things and I started packing up my books..We went out at 4.30am only to be stopped by the security guard who insisted that curfew time ends at 6am. In the end I decided to just go to sleep (the time was 5am) while Mun Hon stayed awake until 8am (What happened to him I really don’t know, insomnia maybe?) 4/11, Went out to Sim Lim Square to check out prices of some “gadgets” as Kah Hou called it. Well not a very successful outing because I forgot to check prices of the earphones which KH asked me to. At night..tonight was called “games night” because some of us were playing chess, and some of my friends are playing “Speed”..yea didn’t play for a long time but I was surprised by my own speed…haha I won 6 games in a row la..and didn’t lost once. We ended up playing “Murderers” but a different version which was more fun. Slept at 2.30am only when the security guard came in to shoo us into our rooms. Well after the OP on 8th..then I still have around I week to spend..and I dunno what I will want to do during that period of time..I WANT TO GO HOME!!! |
